My take:
Acting:
Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly the Bollywood King Khan and his performance in the film is proof of that. He dominates the entire 170 minutes, as both a son and a father. His looks, comedic timing, romance, and action scenes are nothing short of extraordinary, making this a truly entertaining and worth-your-money experience.
Nayanthara makes her debut in the film and looks beautiful as always; however, her character is a bit weak in the second half.
Other star casts such as Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, and Ridhi Dogra have limited screen presence, which is a shame considering their talent. Ditto for Deepika Padukone.
Sadly, the villain Vijay Sethupathi failed to deliver, with his manner of speaking being distinctly South Indian when he was supposed to be a Marathi villain.
Lastly, Sanjay Dutt's role is disappointingly small and Allu Arjun would have been a much better fit for the part.
Overall, Shah Rukh Khan's presence in the film is so captivating that it overshadows all the other actors - a testament to the true King Khan of Bollywood.
Direction:
Atlee's direction is truly remarkable; his first feature film being Raja Rani with Nayanthara.
Following that, he made three more box office hits starring Vijay Thalapathy; Theri (2016), Mersal (2017) and Bigil (2019).
What sets Atlee apart is his ability to discuss pertinent social issues, such as the seven lakh farmers who received money and the subsequent suicides; the deplorable state of government hospitals and the poor quality weapons delivered to the army.
While some might consider this a documentary, Atlee weaves it into the narrative in an incredibly elegant manner. Cinematic liberties are taken - such as the distribution of forty thousand crores among seven lakh farmers within hours and the arrangement of modern facilities in all government hospitals across India in five hours - however, this does not diminish the impact the story has.
Story, Screenplay,Dialogue
The story itself may not be groundbreakingly original, but the way each element is treated and presented is simply superb.
The screenplay is exceptionally well written, ensuring that the viewers remain engaged and hooked throughout the entirety of the film.
Dialogue is also used effectively, adding even further to the emotional intensity of the narrative.
In short, the film shines with a well-written storyline that captivates and entertains from the start to the end.
Music:
The music of the film is very disappointing, however the background music is very effective.
Editing:
It is an 170 minute movie, and while the first half is fast-paced, the second half does get slow at some points.
Box office:
The film has been receiving bumper advance bookings, and today's business is estimated to be between 80 crore and 125 crore. Definitely, the film will break the record of Pathaan in the coming days and become an all-time blockbuster.
