Review of Sikandar Ka Muqaddar - Director Neeraj Pandey, known for his gripping thrillers, disappoints
Rating: 1.5/ 5
Sikandar Ka Muqaddar fails to impress, lacking the thrill, suspense, and action expected from a Neeraj Pandey film. Instead, the movie is heavy on flashbacks and drama, making it a tedious watch. The film is hardly entertaining, devoid of romance, emotions, and memorable songs.
The director takes creative liberties, presenting the story in a disconnected manner. The film starts with a strong thriller plot, centered around a 50-crore diamond robbery, but then takes a 15-year leap. Unfortunately, the plot fails to move forward and instead gets bogged down by unnecessary subplots and drama.
Except for the last 10 minutes, which provide some forced drama, the film is unengaging. Neeraj Pandey's last theatrical release, “Auron mein kanha dum tha” starring Ajay Devgn, was a box office disasters.
It seems he has lost his touch in providing thrillers that resonate with audiences.
Acting-wise, the talented cast, including Jimmy Shergill, Tamanna Bhatia, and Avinash Tiwari, deliver unremarkable performances. Jimmy Shergill looks older in the 2009 version but is shown to be younger with a black beard 15 years later, which is absurd. Tamanna Bhatia disappoints with her subdued look, as she is more suited for glamorous roles and item's numbers. Avinash Tiwari is strictly okay .
Given its theatrical release, Sikandar Ka Muqaddar would have likely met the same fate as Neeraj Pandey's previous films Aiyaary and Auron mein kahan dum tha . Overall, this movie falls short of expectations.
